Mondays are Awesome…No, Really
I LOVE Mondays. Don’t hate. Hold on. Let me explain.
1. Peaceful House
After having the kids running around wreaking havoc, they GO TO SCHOOL. It’s so quiet in the house, I can actually hear myself think. A rare thing of beauty.
2. Brand New List
I am a fan of lists. It helps me focus when the million (okay, maybe only a thousand) things I have to do swirl around unbidden in my mind. Monday allows me to wipe away the old. A fresh collection of numbered items equals a fresh mind.
3. Well Rested Mentally
I might be exhausted physically on Monday because of all the running around we do on the weekend, but mentally I’m refreshed. Our family tends to cram in as much as we can on the weekends. Between scouting (both genders), chores, horses, outings, friends, and so on, my body is screaming at me to slow down. My brain, however, revels in the camaraderie (so proud I can spell this word now, little steps) and the removable of old dirt and the love of horses and the exploration of the wider world. That overactive organ of mine gets recharged and ready to go back to the schedule and the adding of words and the fixing of those added words and the taxi service (my real job).
4. Cleaner Work Space
All week, we hold on for dear life. Washing dishes because they’re all dirty. Mopping the floor only if something was spilled and grumbling the whole time. Paperwork? Add it to the pile. I’ll get to it. Eventually. The chaos of the house adds up until I can’t think anymore. Then the weekend where we squeeze in the chores that we’ve been neglecting, like dusting ceiling fans, sorting the to-be-handled-later pile, scrubbing the kitchen, vacuuming (where did we put that elusive machine). All of this elbow grease adds to a more focused mind allowing me to start Monday anew.
5. Whole Week of Possibilities Ahead
The BEST part about Monday? It’s a new beginning. Forget New Year’s Resolutions. Who wants to make a change once a year and forget it a month later? Try thinking of EVERY week as a new start and see if you can love Mondays just like I do.
What magnificent thing do you have planned for this week?
Beautiful!
I look forward to the day I can feel as excited about Mondays as you are. This is so inspiring and hopeful. 🙂
You can do the thing! Get to it!
